O Festival de Cannes 2026 anunciou nesta quinta-feira (9) a seleção oficial de sua 79ª edição, que acontece em maio na França. A lista reúne novos filmes de cineastas como Ryusuke Hamaguchi e Pedro Almodóvar, enquanto o Brasil não aparece entre os selecionados da competição principal, um ano após a presença de “O Agente Secreto” no evento.
A seleção principal mantém nomes recorrentes do festival, incluindo Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Asghar Farhadi e Cristian Mungiu, além de títulos de realizadores como James Gray, Ira Sachs e Paweł Pawlikowski. O filme de abertura da competição “Um Certo Olhar” será “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma”, de Jane Schoenbrun.
Fora da competição principal, o festival reúne novos trabalhos de Nicolas Winding Refn e Kiyoshi Kurosawa, além de produções exibidas nas seções Cannes Premieres e Exibições Especiais, com títulos de Steven Soderbergh, Ron Howard e outros cineastas internacionais.
